It is highly recommended that any individual who performs or intends to perform first aid, practice disease control procedures for the benefit of themselves and the casualty. Acceptable disease control procedures are the wearing of vinyl or nitrile gloves at all times while performing any first aid procedure and the use of a CPR face shield or CPR mask when performing artificial respiration or cardio-pulmonary resuscitation. It is also recommended that first aid kits be equipped with such items in the interest of public disease control.
